T-SHIRT: THE CLASH – Live at ICA Theatre 1976

Wear a piece of history with this t-shirt celebrating one of the most iconic moments of The Clash: their performance at London’s ICA Theatre on October 23, 1976. That night, the stage of the Institute of Contemporary Arts hosted one of the earliest showcases of British punk, with The Clash joined by Subway Sect and Snatch Sounds. The audience, made up of fans and the curious alike, was swept away by a performance that would forever shape London’s underground music scene.
At the time, The Clash were in the midst of their rise: they were working on their debut album The Clash, which would be released on April 8, 1977.

The lineup was the original one, with:

  • Joe Strummer (John Graham Mellor) – vocals and rhythm guitar
  • Mick Jones – lead guitar and vocals
  • Paul Simonon – bass and backing vocals
  • Terry Chimes – drums

During the concert, they performed songs that would become generational anthems, such as “White Riot,” “London’s Burning,” and “Career Opportunities.” Their music, fast and direct, was a revolution against the rock conventions of the time.

The Clash: the voice of rebellion

The Clash were one of the most influential bands in British punk rock, known for their political commitment and their ability to blend different musical genres. Their aesthetic reflected a combination of influences, including rockabilly, reggae, and folk music, which also showed in their clothing style, often featuring military elements and political symbols. This fusion of music and message made The Clash a cultural icon, influencing both music and fashion of the era.

Wearing this t-shirt proudly affirms that music can also be activism—that punk is not just noise but consciousness. It’s a visual tribute to a band that turned rebellion into critical thought, and stages into arenas of sonic protest. A way to carry the sharp, clear voice of The Clash with you, and to never stop turning up the volume when it’s needed.
